Personal Injury: Treatment & Consultancy

Having an orthopedic surgeon assess your personal injury is critical. Many personal injury cases involve patients suffering from skeletal system issues that persist for months to years. Therefore, it’s important to get assessed and treated by an orthopedic surgeon like Dr. Babak Khamsi in one of his offices in Los Angeles, Ontario or Riverside, California. Dr. Khamsi is also a qualified medical examiner (QME), which means he is certified to provide an unbiased opinion regarding the injury, appropriate diagnosis, as well as best possible treatments.

Personal injuries can include work-related or on-the-job accidents, as well as car accidents, slip and falls, accidents while riding Uber/Lyft or public transportation, etc.

X-Ray / CT Scan / MRI

X-ray is often the first imaging study obtained and can show the overall alignment of the spine, as well as any obvious, displaced fractures.

In many cases an MRI and/or CT scan may be required. These are advanced imaging that can show more details of the anatomy, including the nerves, discs, muscles, ligaments and bony structures.

Electromyography (EMG)

Electromyography assesses the health of muscles and nerves. It is an important diagnostic tool that can reveal nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction, or issues with signals between muscles and nerves.

Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV)

Nerve conduction velocity is a test that assesses how fast electrical signals make it through a nerve. Many times, electromyography takes place at the same time as a nerve conduction velocity test. This requires placement of surface electrodes and then stimulation of the targeted nerves with mild electrical impulses.

With a thorough history and physical examination, as well as utilizing one or more of the above tools, Dr. Khamsi is able to understand the nature of the injury, identify the cause of the injury, and provide an informed opinion on the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment options to the patients and their attorneys.
